Reforming the Budget, Changing Europe

European Commission President Barroso and Commissioner Grybauskaitė have launched on the 12th of this month the public consultation on the reform of the budget. This is a major question for the future of Europe, one which answer has been postponed and away from European citizens for too much time. The budget review, agreed in May 20o6 and to be reported in 2008/2009, is a unique opportunity for a thorough assessment of the EU budget and its financing, free from the constraints of a negotiation on a financial framework. It is a unique opportunity to undertake a full, wide ranging review covering all aspects of EU spending, including the CAP, and of resources, including the UK rebate. If you are an European citizen it is both your right and your duty to participate!!
