Report on the contribution of the future regional policy to the innovative capacity of the EU

The Janowski report, adopted by the European Parliament in plenary session on 10 May and focuses on the contribution of regional policy to the innovative capacity of the EU. The report calls on Member States, the Commission and regional and local authorities to:

• ensure equal access to education at every level;
• maximise access to information and communication technology;
• support the development of ‘clusters’;
• provide comprehensive support to SMEs;
• foster cooperation by setting up European technological platforms calls for financing mechanisms that meet real needs.
